Veterans in Defense of Liberty Denounces the Cancellation of the Preserving Freedom Conference

Veterans In Defense Of Liberty denounces Steve Eckley, Hutton Hotel-Nashville and the parent chain Amerimar Enterprises for their cancellation of the Preserving Freedom Conference sponsored by the Sharia Awareness Action Network (SAAN).

Veterans In Defense Of Liberty explicitly calls for the recanting of the decision by Mr. Eckley, a decision which shows a willful and wanton disregard for the American Constitution.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Oct. 27, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Veterans In Defense of Liberty Board of Directors voted, unanimously, to condemn the actions taken by Steve Eckley, Hutton Hotel - Nashville and Amerimar Enterprises in their cancellation of a several month old agreement with The Sharia Awareness Action Network for the first international, "Preserving Freedom Conference."

Dr. William S. Magill, president and Executive Director, noted, this is now for the second time, in less than a week, wherein a major U.S. hotel has capitulated and canceled an agreement to host an event on radical Islam's threat to America's freedoms due to supremacist threatening messages to management. This submission to Islamic intimidation is a disquieting reminder of just how precarious our Constitutional freedoms of religion and of speech really are in America today. Quoting William J. Murray, "Steve Eckley should be reminded -- politely -- that the U.S. Constitution provides for freedom of speech and freedom of religious expression. Islamic law provides for no such freedoms and encourages the killing or enslavement of all non-Muslims. He should be reminded that he has caved to Sharia Law, which demands submission by non-Muslims. If every hotel manager was worried about what speakers might say at hotel conferences, no one would have the freedom to say anything at conference centers."

This pusillanimous act by Mr. Eckley places every American, as well as American exceptionalism, in peril as it emboldens those who would destroy our Constitution. As noted by Thomas Edison, "The strength of the Constitution, lies in the will of the people to defend it." Furthermore, it is a betrayal of every veteran who at some time in their life signed a blank check payable to the defense of the Constitution of the United States against all enemies "foreign and domestic." This decision represents a brazen disregard for the responsibilities that accompany our rights as Americans. As Americans, our unalienable rights are endowed by Creator and protected by our Constitution. Our Constitution is in turn protected and defended by our active duty military and our veterans and we consider this an objectionable decision.
