MADISON, Wis., Dec. 13, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- BigWorldWatch.com is no longer a part of 4 WINDS, a world-class track and field ministry. BigWorldWatch.com is a worldwide news site offering links to major stories.

BigWorldWatch.com was started by 4 WINDS, the first time that a sports ministry operated a news site. The site receives thousands of hits per day.

On December 12, 2012, the site will no longer be supported by 4 WINDS because the audience grew beyond the targeted audience of athletes only. Plans for the separation from 4 WINDS have been in the planning stages for two months.

Besides the regular news stories posted this past week, BigWorldWatch.com put a Merry Christmas ad in the Badger Herald newspaper on the University of Wisconsin campus. It was the only Merry Christmas ad in a public newspaper in liberal Madison.

BigWorldWatch.com carries stories on the Freedom From Religion Foundation located in Madison. This is the largest atheist organization in the world that sues city councils, schools, and other government institutions.

4 WINDS was started by Steve and Liz McConkey during the fall of 1988 in Minneapolis. Steve McConkey is the President of 4 WINDS.

Steve and Liz have been in world-class track and field ministries since 1981. From 1982 through 1992, Steve was a director/coach of post-collegiate Christian teams, with athletes ranking eighty times by Track and Field News. After 1992, 4 WINDS started working with athletes on all teams instead of having a team.

BigWorldWatch.com covers worldwide news to help discern the times. Also, three columnists write articles on various subjects. The three writers include Steve McConkey, Pastor Merrill Olson, and Pastor Paul Bawden.

BigWorldWatch.com is not a non-profit organization at this time. Currently, the site does not have financial support. Steve McConkey will continue to operate BigWorldWatch.com.

The content of the site will remain the same, but there are plans in the future to expand the site to a larger audience.
