WINCHESTER, Ky., March 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- It started with a vision when Rev. James Williams found out that 50% of his city was "unchurched." His high-steeple pulpit was not reaching many in Winchester, Kentucky and he knew he had to do something. In 2008 he led the downtown congregation of Winchester First United Methodist Church, a miniature replica of the Winchester Cathedral, to start an additional campus on the other side of town in a movie theater.
Many said it could not be done but in just three years, the second campus has grown into it's own building, an abandoned department store. The First Fire Campus in Winchester Plaza which has met each Sunday for the past three years is now launching a weekly Saturday Night Service on April 3rd at 5:22 pm. "Our Saturday night service is perfect for those looking for contemporary worship and a relevant message in a relaxed atmosphere. You can worship and still have time to catch a movie and nice dinner out." said Williams. "There will be a coffee/espresso bar, finger food, children's ministry (just drop them off and they will have a blast!) An awesome band that includes keyboard, guitars, brass, drums and live vocalists. We also use drama and all types of media on two large screens."
What kind of worship can one expect on Saturdays?
The night kicks off with energetic, heart-felt praise! It's our desire to begin by bringing Him praise for who He is, all He has done, and what He plans to do during the service. At this point, the music will be intense, exciting, loud, and expressive. Feel free to sit, shout, dance, jump, clap, sing loud, and celebrate!!! However you worship is ok with us. There are no boundaries.
After a biblical, God-centered talk is delivered, another short time of passionate worship will begin. During this time, our focus is to meet one-on-one with our Maker. A "soft release" will take place, dismissing those who need to leave at this time. We want every person to leave knowing that God is real, He is for them, and their life has been changed!
