Christian SF Novel Wins Book Festival

Contact: Pete Koziar, 410-948-1654

MEDIA ADVISORY, June 4, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- It has just been announced that the Christian SF novel, "Dauntless Homecoming," is the winner in the Science Fiction category of the New York Book Festival (www.newyorkbookfestival.com).

This novel explores the adventures of the crew of the interstellar craft Dauntless as they return after hundreds of years, right into the middle of the Millenium, the visible reign of Christ upon the earth.

Koziar's concept of this time, as he writes on his web site, is "a world that has had the stuffing kicked out of it, yet has become a wonderful place. People still go about their daily lives, have their own hopes and ambitions, but, underlying it, is love incarnate, who seeks that all would grow and know him. It's not an amusement park, a 'Pleasantville' where nothing goes wrong, but a place where adventure can still be found, and challenges still must be faced."

The book blends hard science fiction with an underlying spiritual struggle, and can be enjoyed by Christian and non-Chistian alike. It shares the tradition of C.S. Lewis in his space trilogy, which also blended the science of his day with the spiritual realm. It also has the laid-back tone of Clifford D. Simak's works like Way Station, in which he melded high technology with man's quest for God.

Even though it is a fast-paced adventure, it raises deep questions about the nature of loyalty and the place man holds in the universe. Although the world it portrays is much different than ours, it presents a hopeful picture of the condition of humanity in the far future.

This is Mr. Koziar's first novel. One of his short stories has appeared in The Cross and the Cosmos magazine, and his poems have appeared in Digital Dragon, Mindflights and the Dovetail Journal. The novel has also won honorable mention in the 2011 Royal Dragonfly book contest.

He currently serves as the pastor / leader / rabbi of B'nai Avraham Messianic Congregation outside of Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He's also a full time Principal Research Scientist at a major defense contractor. He therefore straddles the worlds of science and faith every day, and this helps him write SF with a deep spiritual component.

Dauntless Homecoming is available at Amazon.com in Kindle and paperback editions, and also for the Barnes and Noble Nook. Review copies are available to the media on request.
