LOS ANGELES, August 14, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Eight influential women faith leaders released the following "open letter to families" about their support of the new Disney movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green, coming to theaters nation-wide this Wednesday:

Dear Moms and Dads:

We love movies. But if you're anything like us, it's hard to make the time (and spend the money!) to see more than a few movies a year.

That's why seeing the best movies is so important.

Have you noticed that it's getting harder and harder to know what movies are worth seeing? And when you think you found one it ends up disappointing you?

That's why a group of us wanted to make sure you knew of one movie that is worthy of your family's time and attention.

It's called The Odd Life of Timothy Green, and it comes to theaters this Wednesday, August 15.

Every now and then a movie comes out that brings you back to the classic Disney stories – where cheers and tears abound, and you leave with boundless positive themes that remind you and your kids of what really matters in life.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green is just that kind of movie. It's the story of two parents who are struggling to have a child. Then one night, after listing all their dreams for their never-to-be child, a boy named Timothy comes out of their garden. And together they experience the unexpected grace and joy of life. Not perfect. But beautiful in a way that only God can bring about.

Now, please know that Disney didn't ask us to write this. We were invited to see the movie before the public, however. But this movie is just too wonderful to let it get caught up with all the other movies coming out. This one is special. This one is worth seeing.

I hope we will see you at the movies this week!

With many blessings to your family,

Academy Award(R)-nominated director/writer Peter Hedges ("Dan in Real Life," What's Eating Gilbert Grape?") brings enchantment to the screen with "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," an inspiring, magical story about a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who can't wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim--and their small town of Stanleyville--learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life's greatest gifts.
