Have a Question About American History? Ask a Professor

Contact: Warren Throckmorton, 724-967-5644

GROVE CITY, Penn., March 14, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- To help sort out fact from fiction, the authors of Getting Jefferson Right: Fact Checking Claims about Our Third President have added a page to their website which allows readers to ask history professors questions about American history.

Today, World magazine posted an article titled, "Getting History Right," by Warren Throckmorton and Michael Coulter. The article provides a response to David Barton's article in World last month. In today's article, Throckmorton and Coulter announce the Ask a Professor feature hosted on GettingJeffersonRight.com.

Since August 2012, World magazine has been covering the controversy over claims about Thomas Jefferson involving David Barton's book The Jefferson Lies and Warren Throckmorton's and Michael Coulter's book Getting Jefferson Right. Getting history right can be important to current debates and questions about religious liberty. To help provide reliable, factual answers to questions about American history, Throckmorton and Coulter have asked several noted Christian historians (e.g., Gary Scott Smith, John Fea, Gregg Frazer) to be a part of a panel to address reader questions. The full panel can be found at the website.

To ask a question, go to gettingjeffersonright.com/askaprofessor. Currently, the growing list of historians on the panel includes faculty members from several Christian colleges. Panelists have been invited to participate based on proven careful and objective scholarship.

Both Drs. Throckmorton and Coulter are available to discuss this initiative and the controversy about which World has reported.
