NASHVILLE, May 23, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Preaching from Revelation 21 this past Sunday, bestselling author and pastor, Joshua Harris launched a bombshell. From the pulpit of Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland where he is lead pastor, Harris let loose the fact he was sexually molested as a child.

The author of "I Kissed Dating Goodbye," said, "We all have our own tears and stories of how sins against us have scarred us. The allegations of sexual abuse are very personal to me. I know firsthand the pain and isolation this sin causes in the life of a child. I have been a victim of childhood sexual abuse." Then, to those who have silently suffered, he said "What happened to you is not your fault. Go to the police. Get help. There is help for you."

Harris joins other well-known Christian authors who have been sexually molested such as Josh McDowell and Cecil Murphey. Sexual abuse for children creates pain, embarrassment, confusion, and fear. If you suspect a child is being abused or neglected, contact your local child protective services office or law enforcement agency.

Michelle Borquez was also sexually assaulted and understands the confusion and pain that accompanies it. The creator of a new series of mini-books, including from "Fear to Courage" (part of her Freedom Series -- rose-publishing.com/Aspire-Press) says "My heart is always broken when I hear stories of stolen innocence. As an abuse survivor myself who has chosen to forgive, heal, and find restoration in Christ, I am very aware and empathetic to those who are beginning this journey." The Freedom Series is designed to help people break free from the pain, shame, and confusion brought on by abuse.

During his sermon, Harris said, "God will make right all that is wrong, He will take away the lingering effect of sin and what's not right in our lives. He knows how painful life in this world can be." While Borquez clearly sees God's hand of healing in her own life, she also says the healing comes only when we have the courage to work through the pain. Only then, she explains, can we find healing. The Freedom Series, she says, was birthed out of a heart to see people find this freedom and begin their journey of overcoming.

"Innocence stolen at a young age paralyzes and leaves it's victims with tremendous pain, fear, and mistrust," says Borquez. "Overcoming deadly emotions and embracing a path of healing not only allows broken people to find wholeness in Christ, but it gives them the ability to begin to walk out their freedom and their unique God given purpose. No person is to broken for God."
