WEST CHESTER, Penn., April 26, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Ascension Press is providing an exciting opportunity to high school students in a nationwide contest connected to the Theology of the Body for Teens program. This scholarship contest was first launched last year, generating an enthusiastic response of essays from teens on how the Theology of the Body had impacted their lives. This powerful teaching from Blessed John Paul II is making inroads with young Catholics, largely due to the transforming vision of love and sexuality presented in Theology of the Body for Teens.

This year, Ascension Press' Theology of the Body Scholarship Contest is open to video submissions as well as written entries. High school students are invited to share their perspectives in either of these formats. Since the message of the Theology of the Body speaks profoundly to the relationship between male and female, the 2012 Scholarship Contest appropriately invites the students to reflect on their vision, as young men or women, of the role of the opposite sex. There is a Young Men's Category and a Young Women's Category, with winners being awarded Grand Prize, Second Place and Third Place prizes in each category (a total of six winners). Additionally, Ascension Press will donate gift cards to the winners' school or parish.

"In last year's contest, we received many essays from teens whose lives were deeply changed," says Matthew Pinto, president of Ascension Press. "We chose to invite video submissions this year as well. We hope this will further encourage teens to share their stories with us and with the world."

Entries must be submitted to program@ascensionpress.com by June 1, 2012. Winners will be announced on June 11, 2012.
