Colorado Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Endorses New Film Project

Contact: Darla Rae, Film It Productions, 720-620-0536, darla@film-itproductions.com

DENVER, May 25, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Award Winning filmmaker Darla Rae is producing and directing a new feature film about retired NBA player Mike Glenn titled "Spirit of Love." It was Rae's work on the award winning films "The Goal" and "Dandy Kids" that caused two coaches from Mike Glenn's camp for the deaf and hard of hearing to contact Rae. "Spirit of Love" also written by Rae will be shot in Colorado, and 2nd unit in Georgia.

This project is about shattering silence, discrimination, and educating and raising awareness, and honoring a great man who makes a difference in the lives of teens. Rae's company Film It Productions film-itproductions.com produces family films that motivate, uplift, encourage, and inspire audiences. Like most of our films "Spirit of Love" will be reaching out into the community to build a team. Darla Rae's Production Team will use this project as an incubator to give experience to those who desire to be a part of a project bigger than themselves. "Working with the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing youth entrepreneurs all learning the business of filmmaking together will be fun. I've done this in small filmmaking workshops with teens but not on a full length feature. Specifically not kids who have different levels of hearing loss. But my own nephew who is deaf is the real inspiration of why I realized this was an important story to tell.

"They will all learn the skills associated with acting, producing, directing, and editing and distributing a film", said Rae.

In order to be sensitive to the deaf community Rae met with Cliff Moers from the Colorado Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing who is endorsing the project along with other key people in the deaf community across the country, including Hands and Voices, and the Marion Downs Hearing Center.

Rae said, "Our films message is not one of pity or sympathy but of empowerment."

Auditions for teen basketball players both male/female will be Sat. June 2, 2012 9am-12noon at Kent Denver School Gym.
