CHESAPEAKE- Va., Dec. 13, 2010 /Christian Newswire/ -- Bishop E. W. Jackson (photo), Sr., founder of S.T.A.N.D., [Staying True to America's National Destiny] issued the following statement in response to a ruling by Federal District Court Judge Henry Hudson on Virginia's lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the federal health care act.

"I commend the decision by Judge Hudson in this case and congratulate Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli for his work defending the rights and liberties of the citizens of Virginia. When he voted to pass this legislation last year, Virginia Senator Jim Webb sided with big government instead of voting to protect the individual rights of Virginians.

"Although this is not the final verdict necessary to stop the overreach associated with this legislation, it is a very important step in the process and one that will eventually lead to the halls of the Supreme Court.

"Affordable health care can be accomplished within Constitutional means and private sector solutions. Our leaders in Washington, D.C. must remember government legislation cannot replace our God given rights nor can they pass laws, no matter how well meaning, which do not uphold the tenants of our Constitution."
