Contact: Charlie Campbell, 770-904-0007

ABUJA, Nigeria, Feb. 1, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- On December 25, 2011, bombs rocked the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla, Nigeria shortly after the morning mass claiming the lives of at least 35 people with many more injured. Extremist Islamist group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the bombing and for a rash of recent bombings including a United Nations office in the Nigerian capital of Abuja.

Pastor Sarah Omakwu, Senior Pastor of Family Worship Center and internationally recognized televangelist, has pledged the full support of her church and ministry to the people of St. Theresa Catholic Church as they rebuild their place of worship and their lives.

"We are committed to keep the light of Jesus shining. We are praying for all those who are victims of this brutal attack. And we are praying that those who committed this crime would not only be brought to justice, but that they would discover God's love and mercy," said Omakwu.

Despite the growing civil and religious unrest in Nigeria between Christians and Muslims, Pastor Sarah has bridged the gap with faith and service, working with close to 100 other ministries and charities in Nigeria and across the world. Her stated mission is to reach beyond the limits of cultural and religious division and form a sense of unity in her city, her country, and, now, in the international community.

Pastor Omakwu is highlighting the recent violence on her popular television program, "Moving Forward with Sarah," and is asking her viewers and partners to respond by providing support and assistance.
