ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa, July 11, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Alpha Omega Academy, an accredited online school for grades K-12, has added two new honors courses for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Available for Ignitia and Switched-On Schoolhouse, the honors courses, English IV Honors and U.S. History Honors, are designed for high school juniors and seniors who wish to challenge themselves academically.

Honors courses require students to apply critical thinking skills as they complete rigorous coursework involving time-intensive projects. Students opting to take these courses should be prepared to commit ample time and energy to their assigned work. The skills that students apply and learn throughout the courses prepare them to study at the collegiate level and enhance their transcripts for college acceptance.

Prerequisites for the honors courses include three years of high school English for English IV Honors and World History for U.S. History Honors. In addition, high school juniors and seniors must meet a minimum GPA requirement to register for honors courses. Students who have already taken U.S. History or English IV through AOA are not eligible to enroll in the honors version of the course.

For more details or to enroll in the new courses, students should contact their education coordinator or call 800-682-7396.
