PHOENIX, Sept. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- On August 23rd to 28th, XP Media, hosted the first ever Christian New-Media Festival at the Fiesta Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. The New-Media Fest is a yearly celebration of Christian independent films, internet videos, and social network media. "It is a critical hour for the church to take it's place at the gate of this influential communications portal," says founder Patricia King, who created this event to call forth God's media army into greater activation and visibility.

It was an historic movement of workshops, film screenings, prophetic declarations by credible prophets, worship, prayer, and a glitzy awards banquet. Some of the workshop speakers included: filmmaker Darren Wilson (the Finger of God), actor/director Corbin Bernsen (LA Law), actor/director D. David Morin (Touched by an Angel), Christian comedian Doug Addison, and Movieguide's Ted Baehr. With 1300 in attendance, "the fest" was a great success. The workshops were filled to capacity, with many standing along the walls. Much of the worship throughout the festival was led by songwriter Julie Meyer (Paint Your Picture) and Caleb Quaye (guitarist for Elton John, Paul McCartney). Workshops included Editing, Screenwriting, Producing, Acting, Social Networking, Standup Comedy, Songwriting, and Camera Operating, to name a few.

Cutting edge feature films and shorts were screened daily to rave reviews. The winners of Best Feature Film were tied: "A Christmas Snow," directed by Tracy J Trost, and Rust, directed by Corbin Bernsen. Each category was awarded cash prizes.
