CAROL STREAM, Ill., March 14, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christianity Today has launched a new project, This Is Christianity Today, that throughout 2011 will showcase Christian thought leaders and church leaders highlighting the importance and distinctiveness of the non-profit communications ministry and its role in serving the church.

Harold Smith, President and CEO of Christianity Today, says, "This Is Christianity Today will speak to the depth and breadth of our ministry. It will visually capture the words and experiences of men and women whose own faith walks have been touched--even transformed--by what we do."

The project's focus is a website, ThisIsChristianityToday.com, with a growing number of videos featuring prominent Christian leaders discussing how Christianity Today has influenced their lives and how the ministry serves the global church. Videos currently available feature Scot McKnight, Leith Anderson, Kara Powell, Sam Rodriguez, and Sara Groves.

Skye Jethani, senior editor of Leadership journal, is also featured on the website. "There's a lot of diversity within the evangelical church." Skye says, "Christianity Today serves as the rallying point, that tent post that everyone can gather around to learn from each other and advance the mission of the Gospel together."

The website's dual purpose is to serve as a place to share stories and conversations about the ministry of Christianity Today--early memories, ways readers have been challenged and encouraged, and how Christianity Today is an important voice to and for the church.

Kara Powell, executive director of the Fuller Youth Institute, talks about Christianity Today's unique focus on the global church, "I want to find out what God is doing in the church outside of North America. But that's hard information to find. One of the things that I appreciate about Christianity Today is its global perspective--it's the number-one place I go for news about the church around the world."
