MEDIA ADVISORY, July 6, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- In mid 2010 a group of youth leaders began to dream. They dreamt of a city where hurt, pain and rejection where overcome with value, hope and love. They came up with the idea of holding a 10 week campaign through their youth ministry, which mobilized their youth to reach their city with practical acts of love. By the end of the 10 week period the youth ministry had doubled, and thousands of acts of love had been done.

Due to the success of the campaign the team felt lead to share it with other youth ministries. 9 months later, this 10 week program, known as the "love is our weapon campaign" is now being done by 10,000 people from 132 churches representing 12 denominations, across 6 nations. The current acts of love counter, with which people click on, once they do a love deed in their local community has reached 14,000, and is growing everyday.

Ps Benaiah Halliday, the director of Love is our Weapon and youth pastor of Mannahosue Church, when asked on the success of the campaign, says "We are amazed by how an idea so simple can be used so effectively. We love hearing the different testimonies of people every week who have been impacted by the love of Christ through this campaign."

One of the keys to the campaigns success is it's website loveisourweapon.com. This is where churches sign up and launch their own campaign with their own unique church love deed counter. The church can track where the campaign is up to and how many love deeds the church corporately has done. One church, saw 500 love deeds registered in the first week by it's congregation, which brought a huge amount of momentum and expectation across the church as a whole."

The other key is the simplicity of the deeds each week. From cheer-a-champ (encouragement), to "love-the-lonely" (loving the unloved), to "clothes for your bros" (clothing the poor), and the way through to "save a soul" (evangelism).

"Our heart is that whole communities will be changed by the love of Jesus. If this campaign helps a church to do that, that's fantastic." Ps Benaiah tells us.

Churches interested in using the campaign can do so by signing up online. They will also be sent free resource packs including devotionals, promotion material and studies.
