WINCHESTER, Va., June 21 /Christian Newswire/ -- Strategies to help church and ministry supporters become joyful, generous givers will be the topic of an hour-long, online/telephone webinar July 15 with the authors of ECFA Press' first book, "The Sower: Redefining the Ministry of Raising Kingdom Resources."

Registration is open for the 1 p.m. EDT webinar, "Redefining How We Raise Resources," with Sower authors Scott Rodin and Gary Hoag, who will join ECFA Senior Vice President Wesley Willmer for an interactive presentation and discussion.

Those who register for the webinar will receive a free copy of "The Sower." ECFA is accepting pre-orders of this book on its website, www.ECFA.org. The book will ship by June 30.

"This webinar is a great way to guide Christian churches and ministries that are reassessing their fundraising strategies, especially in challenging economic times," said Dan Busby, ECFA president.

The Bible says God loves "a cheerful giver," not because He needs their money, but rather because He knows that cheerful givers value Him above all else. "But most ministry leaders focus on doing 'whatever works' to get people to make gifts rather than engage in strategies to help them become joyful, generous givers," said co-author Rodin.

To encourage Christian generosity, "The Sower" authors offer an alternative approach based on three biblical assumptions:

·         Generous giving is not predicated solely on the work of an individual or an organization's efforts, but rather on God's work in people.

·         Generosity flows from transformed hearts as they are conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, who is generous.

·         Christian resource raising is not solely about securing transactions or gifts; it is about encouraging spiritual transformation – helping people become givers who are rich toward God.

The pressure to provide for ministry needs prompts many to settle for secular techniques to get people to give money. Authors Rodin and Hoag demonstrate that ultimately this is an issue of faith. "Rather than trust God to provide," said co-author Hoag, "ministries often take matters into their own hands. It's no wonder that askers often feel awkward and givers feel abused."

Cost of the webinar is free for ECFA members and $29 for non-members. A recording of the webinar will be available through the ECFA website after the webinar at no cost for ECFA members and $19 for nonmembers.
