5K Walk/Run -- One Step Closer to Freedom

BRISTOL, Conn., Sept. 12, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The first annual Run For Freedom 5K will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012. The goal of the 5K is to raise awareness of human trafficking and raise funds necessary to support safe houses to rehabilitate victims. Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome and will receive a T shirt at registration. At the end of the race, participants can stick around and enjoy snacks and beverages provided by local restaurants and businesses.

Our Cause -- To raise awareness of human trafficking, the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, through public speaking and community events, and to educate on how to assist victims so that they can experience hope and healing. The UN defines human trafficking as the recruiting, transportation, harboring, receiving, and selling of victims for the purposes of prostitution, slavery, pornography, or sexual exploitations.
