The development of his book series resulted from a desire to pass along important life lessons and biblical truths to his children and family.

Hathaway created protagonist David Liberty for his story. Lonely and failing in a nursing home, Liberty is visited by an angel who confronts his past and forever changes his future. Liberty is granted a miraculous second chance in life to demonstrate his faith and love for the Lord by helping others in their battle against sin, but without the use of speech.

Hathaway's speaking topics are all inspired by tragedies in his own life where he discovered the fragility of life. Bryan enjoys his family and faith, the outdoors, sports, physical fitness, writing music, and a good philosophical debate. Hathaway resides with his wife and four children in upstate New York.
