John Meacham Responds to 'Is Hell Dead?' with 'Divine Revelation'

Contact: John Meacham, 919-601-3902

RALEIGH, N.C., March 13, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- During Easter of 2011, Jon Meacham, Executive Vice President at Random House and Dr. Albert Mohler, President of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary both wrote articles about Rob Bell's book "Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived." In his TIME magazine cover article titled "Is Hell Dead?", Meacham wrote that in his book, Bell "begs to differ with the standard Christian view of salvation through belief in Jesus Christ and suggests that the redemptive work of Jesus may be universal -- meaning that, as his book's subtitle puts it, 'every person who ever lived could have a place in heaven'" without a personal belief in Jesus Christ as God's Only Son. Meacham goes on to write that "Bell's argument about heaven and hell raise doubts about the core of the Evangelical worldview, changing the common understanding of salvation so much that Christianity becomes more of an ethical habit of mind than a faith based on divine revelation."

In an article on his website titled "A Massive Shift Coming in What it Means to Be a Christian?", Dr. Mohler wrote that: "This may mark the first time any major media outlet has underlined the substantial theological issues at stake. To his credit, Meacham also understands that Bells' argument fits comfortably within the context of Protestant Liberalism." Dr. Mohler concludes his article by writing that "arguments for universalism and the denial of hell are anything but new. The real question is now whether the church has sufficient biblical conviction to resist this doctrinal seduction."

As a response to Jon Meacham and Dr. Albert Mohler's articles, John said: "I sent each of them a copy of my new book 'Divine Revelation: a call from Christ to join the armies of Heaven' with a note saying that I 'hope this message from Jesus Christ will bless and inspire you.' My hope and my prayer for Mr. Meacham, Dr. Mohler, and all Church Leaders in this country is that they will join the Armies of Heaven to help Jesus Christ reform His Church and rebuild the biblical conviction needed to resist the forces of darkness that have invaded a growing number of Christian Churches in America."

John Meacham has heard the voice of God from a fiery cloud, seen the dazzling light of God's Glory, been indwelled by Jesus, traveled to the Sea of Galilee to write a book for Christ, and received Seven Messages for Seven Churches from Jesus Christ. John serves the Lord as a Christian Author and Prophet for Jesus Christ who has authored four Christian books and worked in Christ's Church as a Pastor, Preacher, Workshop Leader, Bible Study Instructor, and Teacher.
