NEW YORK, April 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- Despite the tough economic times, the American Bible Society is making it easier for people to embrace the hope-filled message of the Easter story by offering free copies of its Easter Edition Bible April 10-15.

This comes at a time when America's unemployment rate is at a 25-year high, retirement plans have lost trillions of dollars and we are in the middle of the weakest spending environment that the economy has faced in 17 years.

"We understand money is tight for so many right now but we don't want that to stop anyone from having access to the 'good news' found in the Bible," said Lamar Vest, president of the American Bible Society. "The Easter story offers a message of hope, encouragement and endurance that can help bring comfort to help people -- especially as they face challenges in their lives."

The Easter Edition Bible (Contemporary English Version) features selected holiday readings and suggested Easter activities.  For a free copy of the Easter Edition Bible visit www.AmericanBible.org.

"There is no better time than this Easter to discover the timeless power and promise of God's Word," said Vest.

The American Bible Society offers several other free resources to experience the Bible's life-changing message.
