Contact: Mike Snyder, Advent Film Group, 540-338-8023

PURCELLVILLE, Va., April 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- Patrick Henry College (PHC) will once again host Advent Film Group's Two-Day Film Workshop on campus from May 21-22, 2010 in Purcellville, Virginia. The school, nationally recognized as a Top Conservative College by The Young America's Foundation, was featured in Advent Film Group's (AFG) inaugural feature film, COME WHAT MAY. In the movie, PHC's legal debate team fought to overturn Roe v. Wade at a national moot court championship, putting its championship hopes in peril because of its uncompromising pro-life stand. In real life, PHC has won four national moot court championships over the past six years, most recently in January 2010.

PHC students and graduates have worked on two feature films produced by Advent Film Group. Among the 40 students who made COME WHAT MAY, a dozen were from PHC. For AFG's upcoming movie, HERO, a half-dozen PHC students and alumni have been involved in all aspects of filmmaking, including production, marketing and promotion. While the college does not yet have a formal film program, PHC students interested in cinema have ready access to AFG's production pipeline and are able to gain professional-level training and credits as they pursue degrees in Literature or Government.

"We love working with PHC students and grads because of their incredible work ethic and sincere humility despite high academic marks and achievements that rival those from the best Ivy League schools." explained George Escobar, AFG Founder. "PHC's approach to classical liberal arts gives their students a keen sense of storytelling, underscored by a solid Christian worldview."

COME WHAT MAY (CWM), now being distributed by Provident Films, a unit of Sony, has been a Top Ten DVD bestseller in Christian retail and is currently the top film shown at churches according to bestseller ranking from Outreach Films. Its popularity among homeschool families has helped PHC recruit some of the best students in the country.

PHC alumnus Peter Forbes, a literature major, is writing a novelization of COME WHAT MAY, to be published fall 2010. Peter had the unique experience of being the unit production manager for CWM and assistant to the director during HERO's production. He knows PHC and AFG intimately and is compiling notes for a possible book about his unprecedented inside-look at the new Christian Film Movement and his hands-on experience in making it happen.
