MEDIA ADVISORY, Nov. 3 /Christian Newswire/ -- In tough economic times, the temptation is to pull back initiatives, but World Gospel Mission is pushing forward in 2009 with expanding work in three new areas of the world: Sudan, Genada, and Peru. WGM is an interdenominational missionary-sending agency based in Marion, Indiana, with missionaries in 23 areas of the world.

"It's exciting to see how God is working in the lives of our missionaries and in their stateside ministry partners to open these new fields this year," said Dennis Johnson, vice president of International Ministries. "We have veteran missionaries with years of experience starting up ministries in these areas--and their supporters are on board!"

When WGM staff begin working in an area, they establish contact with the national church, if one exists, and work together to build up the body of Christ in that area. In Peru, WGM staff is active in nurturing small churches in the city of Cusco. Mango Ministries in south Sudan works with local communities to develop solutions to problems like poor agriculture, water sources, education, and health care. WGM staff in Grenada, a small Caribbean island, is helping local churches reach out to children and teens.

"All of these ministries require start-up funding, and we welcome believers to join in growing God's work in these three areas," said Johnson. "We've sent out a letter to our supporters and subscribers who receive our magazine, The Call, and also invite others to participate by visiting our website at www.wgm.org."
