WASHINGTON, April 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America joins pro-family activists around the world in mourning the tragic death on Saturday of Polish President Lech Kaczynski. Also killed in the plane crash were other top-ranking Polish officials accompanying President Kaczynski en route to a ceremony commemorating the World War II victims of the 1940 massacre of Polish officers in the Katyn Forest.

Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse, Director and Senior Fellow of Concerned Women for America's Beverly LaHaye Institute and member of the Management Committee for the World Congress of Families, said, "President Kaczynski was an outstanding leader for pro-life, pro-marriage, and pro-family issues in Europe.  He stood strong for Judeo-Christian values in the face of intense opposition from European Union leaders. We at CWA join people around the globe in mourning the loss of this friend of life and leader in the effort to strengthen the family."

Crouse added, "When I participated in the initial meeting leading up to the World Congress of Families (WCF) IV, held in Warsaw, May 11-13, 2007, President Kaczynski arranged for our delegation to meet in the office of former Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, and he sent an official welcome to the leaders of the WCF IV.  In that letter, President Kaczynski acknowledged that Poland is a 'bastion of strong faith and strong families.' His death is a decisive loss for those who stand for life, marriage, and families.  We send our warmest regards and profound sympathy to our Polish colleagues and President Kaczynski's family."
