ENUMCLAW, Wash., July 7, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Traveling can be costly. Americans will spend nearly $768 billion on personal traveling at home and abroad in 2010.* But for Timothy Stebens, travel means receiving and having something to give back.

Stebens, who is the author of "Extreme Days," has visited 30 countries and 47 states. He has made his home in Japan, Canada, Germany, and Bosnia as well as the U.S., where he's lived in seven states -- Texas, New York, Florida, California, Colorado, Alabama, and Indiana.

Revisiting travel logs he kept led Stebens to write "The Traveler Series," action-adventure novels that blend Christian theology, European mythology, and geography.

In "Extreme Days," book one of the series, the devil has created a Game to keep his dark flock together after they are cast out of heaven. A prophesied French Roman enters the Game and journeys throughout Europe with other Players. Finding clues and solving riddles, they stay a step ahead of their personal Hunters, fallen angels with a hatred for God and humans. Help comes throughout the Game from Guardians -- former Players who have found the only way out.

Stebens traveled through much of Europe while stationed there with the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. He served as a NATO peacekeeper in Bosnia in 1996.

"At first I just wanted to clean up my logs from my years of traveling in Europe," says Stebens. "Through the process, I formed a storyline that I thought was intriguing and original."

Stebens hopes his book will help people struggling to understand life to want to know more about God, Jesus, and the Bible. "My travels helped me get closer to God and come to respect the blessings I have every day," he says. "Traveling also opened my eyes to the reality of the decay of the world and how much the world needs Jesus."

Stebens is a police lieutenant for the U.S. Department of Defense at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX, where he lives with his family. He is a member of Community Bible Church and volunteers at two local elementary schools.
