Georgia Right to Life Names Mike Griffin State Field Director
Contact: Mike Griffin, Georgia Right to Life (GRTL), 706-436-2646

NORCROSS, Georgia, Nov. 21, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) has named Mike Griffin as its State Field Director.

In his new role, Griffin is available to educate legislators and prolife advocates around the state about GRTL's effort "Personhood--the Paramount Right to Life".

The program's ultimate goal is to adopt an amendment to the state's constitution which would affirm that a "paramount right to life" is vested in each human being from the earliest biological beginning until natural death.

"Mike is a dedicated, inspirational advocate for protecting the sanctity of human life," said Daniel Becker, GRTL president. "He will bring added passion to encouraging our grassroots supporters to join our efforts."

The pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell, Griffin served as GRTL's lobbyist for four years, including 2008 when he spearheaded the nation's first attempt to pass a personhood amendment. Before assuming that position, he ran as the Republican candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives (District 29) in 2006.

In April 2010, Aaron Gould Sheinin, in his article: "Georgia Influencers" ranked Mike at #11 among Republicans having the most influence at the Capitol.

"As State Field Director, Mike will be issuing a challenge to prolife advocates across the state to get involved in the 2012 election; to be a voice for those who have no voice," Becker added.

Griffin will be available to make presentations to churches, schools, community organizations, and local GRTL chapters.

Last year, an overwhelming number of voters in 46 Georgia counties supported the concept of placing a personhood amendment on the 2012 ballot. For that to happen, it must be approved by the Georgia Legislature.
