New Daniel Commentary Provides Inspiration for Today's Culture

MEDIA ADVISORY, July 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- A devout teenage boy of noble birth is seized by a cruel military force and marched east as a slave to a pagan land. He would never again see the familiar, narrow winding streets of the city where he grew up, a place filled with the warmth and presence of the God he loved. For the next 70 years, his home would be a metropolis with streets as straight and wide as modern day freeways, its imposing city walls towering many stories into the air.

Daniel was uprooted from his beloved Jerusalem and thrust into Babylon, the center of the mighty Chaldean empire, in 605BC. With three friends by his side, he proved himself so intelligent, wise and effective a leader that the empire's tyrant king bestowed on him one of the highest positions of authority.

But living as a devout Jew in a pagan empire was anything but easy. Faced with bigotry and constant attacks on his faith, Daniel persevered and trusted God through trials that would test even the most committed believer. In the process, he demonstrated that a life of integrity, lived with a strong moral compass, has a worth beyond measure.

Illuminosity press announces a new commentary on the book of Daniel. Many years in development, this Bible study, entitled "Daniel: God's Messenger to our Times," (ISBN 978-0578054551) takes readers through the book of Daniel verse by verse to make it clear and understandable, whatever their level of Bible knowledge.

Featuring innovative graphic design, with maps, charts and the most comprehensive timeline of Daniel's life ever published, the study is both entertaining and insightful, yet traditional in its biblical interpretation.

Author George Pytlik was once a ministry director with Campus Crusade for Christ and helped launch the organization's Internet ministry in 1993. In discussing the purpose behind the book, he explains, "In our modern world, with the Bible often under attack, many Christians are unsure how to respond. Daniel offers a powerful example of how we can influence others through a life of faith and integrity, even in the midst of a pagan culture." Pytlik adds, "My purpose was to give people in our culture a deeper appreciation of Daniel's inspiring faith, along with greater insight into the many detailed prophecies Daniel was given."
