PRAWLING, Ny., Nov. 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- OurPrayer, an Outreach Ministry of Guideposts that prays for over 600,000 prayer requests annually, is celebrating Veteran's Day, November 11th by focusing on a special day of prayers for all veterans, military reservists and soldiers on active duty. According to Reverend Dr. Peola Hicks, OurPrayer Manager, "Guideposts has a long history of recognizing and filling the spiritual and emotional needs of America's bravest men and women. This year we have expanded OurPrayer's observance of Veteran's Day to provide the opportunity for hundreds of thousands of Americans to support our soldiers through prayer."

Focal points of the Veteran's Day tribute are: video stories about helping and supporting the military, a video message from Dr. Hicks and a special 'Prayer for the Military.' Additional prayers for soldiers and their families are offered at OurPrayer.org including: a Prayer for Protection, a Prayer for Someone You Miss, a Prayer for One Far Away from Home and a Prayer for God's Power. People can also have their personal prayer requests posted or create their own prayer space to post their prayers. There are also special pages that offer tips, guidance and encouragement for coping with the issues facing military personnel and their families. www.OurPrayer.org/military_issues

Guideposts efforts are focused on helping to inspire people and encourage a sense of hope by providing Active Duty and Reserve Component personnel supportive sources of strength and comfort through creating programs that are meaningful and relevant to today's soldier. Among its ongoing military outreach initiatives, Guideposts has partnered with chaplains at bases across the country and overseas, developed deployment packets of Guideposts inspirational literature for free distribution to deploying soldiers, created military versions of Daily Guideposts and other publications, promotes a Christmas card mailing program to reach soldiers overseas and recently put a new program in place to allow donors to give Guideposts magazine gift subscriptions to soldiers and their families at no cost. Through a special Veteran's Day promotion on OurPrayer, anyone wanting to give a free gift subscription to a soldier can easily do so by clicking to a gift order form on the site.

This Veteran's Day OurPrayer.org will be the place for people uniting in prayer to honor and support members of the U. S. military, past and present.
