Conference Declares: Defend the Faith, Defend the Family; Defend the Family, Defend the Faith
LA CROSSE, Wisc., April 4, 2011 /
Christian Newswire/ -- On April 7th-9th an online conference will take place that contends that Christians interested in defending the faith will defend the family and similarly that defending the family will defend the faith. Athanatos Christian Ministries is hosting conference, which takes place entirely online. The conference reflects ACM's emphasis, by challenging participants to make a defense of Christianity through the arts.
ACM's Executive Director Anthony Horvath explains, "Statistics continue to show what I think we all realize is pretty obvious: a person's worldview affects their views on the family and the family in turn greatly influences that worldview. Our conference calls on Christians to take this seriously and act accordingly. The consequences of a society filled with fractured- or so-called 'modern'- families are piling up around us. The stakes are too high to ignore."
The keynote presenter at the online conference is cultural critic, author, and Patrick Henry college professor, Dr. Gene Edward Veith.
Other presenters include Jason Jones, co-producer of the award winning movie "Bella" and Dallas Jenkins, writer and director of the recently released film titled "What If." Brian Godawa, writer of the acclaimed "To End All Wars" joins Dick Rolfe, founder of the Dove Foundation, in discussing the unique power of film to communicate worldviews.
"One of our goals is to show how attitudes on faith and the family are often shaped by our culture. Many people think they have good reasons for their beliefs but in fact they absorbed them from a sitcom or the late night 'news' shows. Christian should make sure that their voices are added to the mix and presented in a way that will garner them a fair hearing," Horvath contends.
