Damaged Wall Helps Crack the Code of Global Missions

MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- In Saltillo, Mexico, a World Gospel Mission (WGM) partner church has a serious challenge. "Right now, our Men With Vision ministry is focusing on a church in Mexico that has a property wall threatening to fall on the church building. There are just a few pieces of wood separating the church from getting some serious damage," said Todd Eckhardt, director of the Men With Vision program, a ministry arm of the interdenominational missionary-sending agency.

According to Eckhardt, challenges like the one in Saltillo help thousands of people around the country move the idea of missions from an abstract concept to a reachable place. "Thanks to Men With Vision, which matches groups of men (and women!) who have various trade skills to projects on various mission fields around the world, Christians from around the country are engaging in global missions in new ways," said Eckhardt.

Men With Vision projects range from constructing dorms or churches in Honduras to repairing radio equipment in Haiti to building a school for orphans in Uganda. "Men With Vision events and overseas work teams make missions real for people--it's when they meet children in Honduras or Kenya and work on a building project. But for those who don't feel called to go, or are unable to because of health or family needs, they can get involved in Men With Vision through the Minuteman program," said Eckhardt.

Eckkardt explained that members are informed of approximately three emergency needs per year, such as flood relief, vehicle replacements, and other urgent needs.

Comparing the situation to "Nehemiah's Wall" in the book of Nehemiah, Eckhardt and others are encouraging Christians to help their brothers and sisters in Christ in Saltillo, Mexico, rebuild the damaged wall of a church.
