Upcoming Online Apologetics Conference Declares: Go on the Offense in Defense of Marriage and the Family

Contact: Anthony Horvath, Athanatos Christian Ministries, 202-280-7971, publicity@athanatos.org

MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- Athanatos Christian Ministries is hosting its second annual online apologetics conference. Once again, Christians are called to use their artistic talents to present and defend the Christian worldview within our culture. This year, however, Biblical marriage is singled out for defense with film, video, and movies as the means emphasized. The conference will take place April 8th and 9th, 2011, and will be held entirely online. The keynote speaker is prominent culture critic Dr. Gene Edward Veith, Jr.

Other speakers include Dallas Jenkins, the co-producer and director of such films as "What If" and "Though None Go With Me."

ACM's Executive Director, Anthony Horvath, describes the 2011 apologetics conference, "Because the conference is held over the Internet people can attend from around the world without leaving their homes or offices. It is an effective way to bring theologians, artists, writers, and apologists together. These are groups that usually don't mix together for a common purpose, but this conference makes that possible."

And the common purpose set forward for this conference? Horvath says, "Apologetics efforts are typically geared towards presenting the merits of Christianity and theism in general. What this conference acknowledges is that other important aspects of Christianity need defending, too. Everyone understands that the biblical model of marriage and family has long been under attack in America but it hasn't generally been seen as something on the apologetics 'radar.' However, the two things are clearly related. If one rejects biblical faith, they will reject the biblical model of marriage and the family. It is self-evident. If they find the Biblical model of marriage 'out dated,' Christian faith is likely to be seen the same way."

The conference goes even further and calls upon Christians to defend marriage along one of the main lines that it has been attacked: in the culture through movies, films, art, and literature.

Horvath argues, "Current trends cannot be reversed by walling off the 'Christian ghetto.' Isolated production companies will not be able to turn back the tide. It will take the whole Church calling on Christians to engage our society- and fellow Christians- across the whole spectrum of human experience and then supporting the ones we just called in their efforts. The stakes are high."
