Congressional Black Caucus Off Track in Demanding Tax Dollars to Pay for Abortions, Say National Black Pro-life Leaders

Contact: National Black Prolife Coalition, 888-619-6272, unite@blackprolifecoalition.org

ATLANTA, May 4, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- "The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is off track by insisting that the US Senate fund abortion for low-income women in the District of Columbia and the country at large," said Dr. Alveda King of www.africanamericanoutreach.org and www.silentnomoreawareness.org.

"If women of the CBC really want to help women, they should insist that the harms and pitfalls of abortion be included in legislation and education campaigns: The breast cancer link, post abortive effects like depression, eating disorders, emotional detachment..."

"When the Supreme Court, overturned Partial Birth Abortion in Gonzales v. Carhart, they referenced an amicus brief submitted by the Justice Foundation which included the testimony of 180 post-abortive women. There are hundreds more like us. Abortion hurts women, kills babies and often destroys the lives of the parents. The CBC should be concerned about that."

Ryan Bomberger of www.theradiancefoundation.org said: "Black women fighting to kill black babies... Abortion apologists exercise little logic... and apparently no facts. Actually abortion has never reduced poverty, unintended pregnancy rates, nor empowered women. Abortion has taken a destructive, disproportionate toll on the black community."

Bomburger added: "In the CBC's attempt to grossly distort a measure that protects life, specifically those of black children, they continue to lie about the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, which ONLY cuts off federal funding for Title X organizations/facilities that perform abortion. The bill does not touch the thousands of Title X family planning clinics that offer the exact same reproductive health services as Planned Parenthood minus the abortion factor."

Responding to a story from The Hill, Black pro-life leaders at www.blackprolifecoalition.org are outraged. "CBC members demand our posterity be destroyed instead of advocating the funding of real solutions (or better yet promoting responsible personal behaviors) that don't require the sacrifice of our humanity."

"The CBC should be voting to defund Planned Parenthood and end abortion in America," say the leaders. "In fighting for the right to pay for killing babies, CBC should use their own money, not tax dollars. We want our tax dollars to go to legitimate Title X health care centers that offer women and children real healthcare, and not abortion. Abortion providers under the guise of offering mammograms and other 'so called' health services should be exposed and shut down," the leaders insist.
