Institute for Worship Studies Holds Ninth Commencement Ceremony
Well-known writer and editor featured as commencement speaker at Orange Park-based graduate school
 
ORANGE PARK, Fla., July 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies (IWS) celebrated its ninth annual commencement ceremony here on Sunday, June 13, 2010. Seventeen students graduated with the Doctor of Worship Studies degree, two with the Advanced Graduate Certificate in Worship Studies and eleven with the Master of Worship Studies degree. David Neff, editor-in-chief of the Christianity Today Media Group who is also a writer, pastor, teacher and church musician, was awarded the Doctor of Humane Letters and delivered the commencement sermon, available here. Neff serves on the executive committee of the National Association of Evangelicals, has served as president of the Evangelical Press Association, and has been on the boards of Bread for the World and the Association of Theological Schools. Following the commencement ceremony, IWS hosted a two-day seminar featuring Dr. Simon Chan. Dr. Chan (Ph.D., Cambridge) is the Earnest Lau Professor of Systematic Theology at Trinity Theological College in Singapore and is a world renowned theologian and speaker. He is the author of numerous publications, including the books Liturgical Theology: The Church as Worshiping Community, and Spiritual Theology: A Systematic Study of the Christian Life.
 
The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies offers the Doctor of Worship Studies and the Masters of Worship Studies degree programs, using a unique mix of distance learning and in-class instruction on its Florida campus near Jacksonville. More than 425 students from over 40 denominations in the U.S., Canada and eleven other countries have matriculated at IWS since its founding in 1999, and 265 students have graduated from the school. IWS is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education.
