CHESAPEAKE, Va., May 26, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Earl W. Jackson, a Marine veteran, Harvard-trained attorney, and conservative activist, followed-up on his pledge never to vote for an increase in the federal debt ceiling by signing a symbolic ceiling tile in front of the New Kent County Tea Party yesterday evening.  This follows his challenge to his fellow rivals for the Republican nomination to join him in his pledge to the voters of Virginia that they will never vote to increase the federal debt ceiling.

Jackson issued a statement today:

"Serious times deserve serious measures in the United States Senate to save America from fiscal insolvency.  We cannot solve our debt crisis by simply focusing piecemeal on certain programs, but rather we must focus on entire federal departments!

"After years of fiscal neglect by the Republican and Democratic political establishment, now is the time for Americans to demand a fiscal account from politicians in Washington.

"Last week I challenged all of my Republican rivals for the nomination to take an identical pledge never to vote to increase the federal debt ceiling.  Unfortunately, I have not heard back from Governor Allen, Jamie Radtke, David McCormick or Tim Donner.

"Others may be afraid to led... I am not.

"That is why this pledge is the first of a series of commitments by me to the citizens of Virginia to stop the Obama Agenda.  I look forward to sharing my pledges to my fellow Virginians on how to restore American back to greatness.

"Now is the time to send conservatives to Washington to hold the leaders of our own party accountable and bring fiscal responsibility back to the nation's pocketbook."
