There are seven lessons every American must remember in order for our nation to thrive, according to a new book titled "We Forgot! The 7 Unlearned Lessons of 9/11" by Dr. Joe Savage, director of the University of Mobile Center for Leadership and Twelve23 Movement.

"We Forgot" is being released September 11 by University of Mobile Press and is available for $15.95 at www.twelve23.org or by calling the University of Mobile Center for Leadership at 251.675.7551.

Savage says the current national crisis is due in part to the American people's failure to remember the foundational truths conveyed by our nation's founders. The lessons in "We Forgot" are drawn from events surrounding the 1789 inauguration of George Washington and the national response following September 11, 2001.

"On September 11, we were reminded how quickly we dismiss the very things that are the most important, things like the importance of a solid family, of a free economy, of a trusted President and Congress, of a meaningful church, of skilled leadership, and the one that seems to be forgotten most often: the importance of dependence upon God," Savage writes.

A motivational speaker, pastor and evangelist, Savage leads large groups and individuals to make a difference in their community and world. He has personally spoken to more than 1,800 audiences ranging from inner-city youth to corporate events for Aflac, NASA, National Football League, Alive Festival, and others. He authored the most-requested devotional in the NFL with more than 200 coaches, executives and scouts as recipients each week. He is the author of "More of God, More of Me," a 40-day guide about living a Spirit-filled life.

The Twelve23 Movement is an outgrowth of the University of Mobile Center for Leadership, which aims to equip leaders of all generations and vocations to become a transforming influence in the revitalization of Christian faith and character in America.

"We Forgot! The 7 Unlearned Lessons of 9/11"

Could it be that we have forgotten the foundational truths that America was established upon?

September 11, 2001: A day that no American will ever forget. As our national identity was attacked from the heart of New York City, the nation united around the cause of defending liberty.

Today, our country is in crisis once again. As we struggle to find solutions for our economic, political, and social turmoil, perhaps the answers we need are found within another memorable day in the heart of New York City -- April 30, 1789.

Follow the path of George Washington on inauguration day and rediscover the truths that define the character of the American people. As Washington said in his inaugural address, "The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty and the destiny of the republican model of government are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people."

In this compelling reminder of our national identity, Savage presents seven lessons that every American must remember in order to rekindle the "sacred fire of liberty" that our Founding Fathers entrusted us, as Americans, to preserve.
