NORCROSS, Ga., Jan. 10, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Georgia Right to Life today strengthened its commitment to standing for life by naming Mike Griffin to serve as the organization's vice president.
In his new role, Griffin will spearhead the organization's legislative activities, which include establishing "personhood" protection for all innocent life from conception until natural death.
"I am looking forward to working with Dan Becker and the Board," Griffin said. "And that work will be to continue to promote a 'personhood' approach to Georgia Right to Life's education, legislation and political action."
Griffin went on to say, "I am deeply committed to making the concept of 'personhood' a part of Georgia's Constitution. Georgians in recent elections and polls have shown that they expect GRTL and the General Assembly to advance in that direction."
Griffin, senior pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell, has worked with GRTL for the past six years. In addition to lobbying, he has served as state field director, which involved traveling the state to inform and motivate citizens to become involved in pro-life issues.
"Mike is a tireless defender of the defenseless," said GRTL President Dan Becker. "I am extremely grateful that he has accepted this vital new role."
In 2010, the Atlanta Journal Constitution ranked Griffin as the 11th most influential Republican at the State Capitol.
Mike and his wife, Liza have been married for 34 years and have four children and four grandchildren.
Georgia Right to Life promotes respect and effective legal protection for all innocent human life from its earliest biological beginning through natural death. GRTL is one of a number of organizations that has adopted Personhood as the most effective prolife strategy for the 21st century.
