Richmond to Host Hundreds of Pastors, Clergy and Lay Persons from Virginia's Oldest Convention of African American Churches

ARLINGTON, Virginia, April 23, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Virginia Baptist State Convention, Inc. (The VBSC) to convene and celebrate its 145th Annual Session in Richmond, Virginia May 14 - 17, 2012.  Annual Session is a five day series of events meant to support the needs of churches, clergy and lay persons.

 

According to Leonard N. Smith, D.Min., President of The VBSC, "We are pleased to bring the Convention back to Richmond, a city which certainly offers a central location for our dispersed body of member churches across the Commonwealth."

 

The annual session will commence with a golf tournament to be hosted by world renowned actor, Reverend Clifton Davis. There will be several ticketed events including a black tie banquet, Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson; Chairman of the Board of the National Action Network and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Virginia Union University is the speaker. Additionally, the current president will give his final address and the convention will elect and install a new president. "We invite the City of Richmond and all its residents to join us. There are many free events as well as ticketed to ensure everyone has a chance to participate in the experience," said Smith.
