COLLEYVILLE, Texas, April 28, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian author and motivational speaker Randy Draper once encountered a man throwing a temper tantrum before boarding a flight from Colorado Springs, CO to Dallas, TX. The man who was seated right across the aisle from Randy and his wife Elizabeth continued to scold a flight attendant about the plane's insufficient air conditioning. During the course of the flight, the man noticed Randy's Bible and commenced, for the next 30 minutes with tears streaming down his cheeks, to tell Randy of his compassion for the lost and the good work he was doing for his church. The illustration from Draper's new book, Happy To Do It: How To Get Your Snap On," conveys the embarrassing effects of Christians with bad attitudes.

"All this love for Jesus fell on deaf ears," Randy offered to a packed Power Lunch talk held at Dallas Prestonwood Baptist Church in early April. Randy continued, "When the man had a chance to be a light to a dark world he chose not to be. So, how's your light shining?" Randy asked.

Randy -- wearing a fluorescent green shirt to match the cover of Happy To Do It and the enthusiastic tone of his message -- received unusual applause during the 45-minute sermon. Like popcorn popping, finger snapping could be heard throughout the luncheon hall as the more than 500 people demonstrated their commitment to adjust their attitudes, according to Philippians 2:5 -- "Have this attitude in yourself that is also in Christ Jesus."

The successful jewelry executive, who confessed to previous financial failure, identified worry as a common barrier to happiness and that people are so tense about their circumstances that God cannot use them. In addition, he quoted the statistic that each hour a person worries is like eight hours of hard labor. Therefore, if a person worries eight hours in a day, he or she has worked 64 hours. "No wonder we are so tired at the end of the day because we are busy about what's not happening," Randy said.

Randy closed with one of his favorite inspirations, a subject that he also wrote about in his "First-Person" column in the Baptist Press, March 31, 2011, titled Happy To Do It: "Grandma Draper was born with polio; she was born with one leg shorter than the other. She had ever reason to complain -- but was one of the most positive people on the planet. I grew up from a young boy serving my grandmother helping her out of the car and up the stairs. I learned from helping her that serving really does more for the one serving, than it will ever do for the one being served," Randy encouraged.

"J-o-y is Jesus first, others second and yourself last. If we follow this simple acronym, we'll find that we will have the same joy Grandma Draper had. Not a person crossed her path who didn't say 'Wow, that lady encouraged me,'" Randy concluded.

Prestonwood Pastor Jack Graham praised Randy at the close of Power Lunch, "I love the Draper family. Happy To Do It is a great book; I love this book... Randy and his whole family exemplify this message of Happy To Do It, which Randy so beautifully projected."
