Generation Joshua to Hold 1st Annual Future of America Banquet

Contact: Jeremiah Lorrig, Home School Legal Defense Association, 540-338-5600

PURCELLVILLE, Va., Oct. 13, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Members of Congress and respected pro-family leaders will gather on November 15th, 2011 to raise awareness and support for Generation Joshua, a division of Home School Legal Defense Association, at its first annual Future of America Banquet.

Since its inception in 2003, thousands of Generation Joshua students have been deployed to 56 political races at the district, state, and national level.  In the 2010 mid-term elections, 824 volunteers deployed to 21 races and made 925,626 voter contacts in support of pro-homeschooling candidates for congress.

Congressman Tom McClintock (CA) told Generation Joshua director Will Estrada "I would not be here today if it were not for the hard work of those Generation Joshua kids." Senator Tom Coburn (OK) elaborates on the students, "They were our grassroots. They were the key. Generation Joshua was the most successful thing I've ever seen in politics, and my hope is that it'll continue."

Leaders agree the time is now to support those who will be future legislators, future politicians, and the future of America. Estrada explained that the program's students need support: "Kids cannot do it alone. They need those who have gone before to invest in their future."

This event will feature keynote speaker, Virginia's Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. Attendees will also include Morton Blackwell (the Leadership Institute), Tom Minnery (Focus on the Family), Penny Nance (Concerned Women of America) and other pro-family leaders.

Generation Joshua will also honor their first ever recipient of the Generation Joshua Future of America Leadership Award to a student who has exhibited servant leadership in upholding the values of Generation Joshua.
