Tomorrow (5/31): Will Derzis 'Get Off The Hook' from Operating Shut Down Abortion Clinic?

Contact: Tom Ciesielka, TC Public Relations, 312-422-1333, tc@tcpr.net

MEDIA ADVISORY, May 30, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Life Legal Defense Foundation Executive Director will be available to media following a hearing tomorrow. Judge Joseph Boohaker will consider motion to dismiss claims against those connected with New Woman, All Women (NWAW) abortion clinic in Birmingham. The defendants argue that Alabama Department of Public Health does not have jurisdiction and that an injunction to immediately shut down the NWAW is an inappropriate remedy.

WHO: Dana Cody, Executive Director, Life Legal Defense Foundation

WHAT: Cody will be available for question from the media

WHEN: Immediately following oral arguments at 10:30 a.m. Central

WHERE: Outside of courtroom located at 716 Richard Arrington, Jr. Blvd. N, Birmingham, Alabama
    MAP: goo.gl/maps/EObVr

WHY: Life Legal Defense Foundation, which has been instrumental is getting the clinic closed for health code violations, has requested that the Alabama Department of Public Health enforce its own rules by issuing an emergency administrative order of closure against the illegal clinic. The law provides that former clinic owner Diane Derzis' and abortionist Bruce Norman's deliberate and perpetual violations are grounds for this illegal facility to be closed immediately.

In advance of the hearing, Dana Cody, Executive Director, Life Legal Defense Foundation, released the following statement:

"Tonya Reaves is dead due to a 'safe, legal abortion' in Chicago. Gosnell left a trail of victims, women and children, in Philadelphia. New Woman, All Women needs to close permanently before there are more victims to add to the growing list. Diane Derzis is still active with the clinic even after the Alabama Department of Public Heath found numerous violations and despite that she was forced to sign an order revoking her license. We pray that the Court will stop the victimization of women and children here in Birmingham and not let Derzis 'off the hook.'"
