MEDIA ADVISORY, Jan. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Once again the evangelical vote has proved to be the key constituency for the Republican Party. Those who live in Jesusland are powerful participants that elitists in the GOP and conservative corners can no longer take for granted, according to David Jeffers, author of Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland. "For too long the evangelical has been taken for granted by the party apparatus. No more," Jeffers said.

"As I wrote in my book, the nearly 7 million evangelical voters who did not vote in 2004 are the prize to win, not the 'undecided' or 'independent voters'" Jeffers says. Jeffers explains that nearly 80% of evangelicals will support a true conservative. Jeffers states: "We are looking for a candidate who is strong on security, will close the borders and not provide amnesty to illegal aliens, and keep the government off our backs!"

Jeffers says many of the television pundits on both sides of the aisle are beginning to understand not only the power of the evangelical vote, but also the effectiveness of the "alternative media." "Evangelicals have a strong information network that includes homeschooling Moms, email traffic, and Christian bloggers" says Jeffers. Jeffers' own blog, "Salt and Light" works to bring "Political and moral clarity into the fog of political correctness."

Jeffers predicts that the evangelical vote will be the deciding factor in the 2008 election and that with the huge Iowa win by Governor Huckabee, Jesusland is now on every candidates radar.
