COLORADO SPRINGS, April 29, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) has launched a national initiative to send thousands of underprivileged kids to camp, regardless of their ability to pay. Corners of the Field seeks to raise campership dollars for local camps across the U.S. give kids the best week of their lives in a beautiful, natural setting.

"Imagine the impact if every kid could go to camp regardless of their ability to pay. Imagine if kids struggling with their purpose, longing to be loved, faced with huge peer pressure or thoughts of self-injury could experience, in a beautiful place, the love of a God who has a plan for their lives," said Gregg Hunter, CCCA President/CEO.

Corners of the Field seeks to raise funds to provide member camps funds for scholarships. Inspired by a verse in Leviticus in which farmers are commanded to leave the "corners of the field" for the poor to be fed, CCCA believes that the camp experience uniquely ministers, both physically and spiritually.

In conjunction with a national awareness-building effort called The Power of Camp, CCCA is educating parents and the public about the significant benefits children receive from a week at camp, including time to decompress and consider their future, experience love and acceptance from positive adult role models and experience adventure and have fun in a safe and caring environment.

On Average:
·         Kids spend 3.5 minutes in meaningful conversation with their parents each week.
·         Kids 8-18 spend 7.5 hours a day using entertainment media.
·         Children play outside four minutes a day.

CCCA member camps provide a refuge where caring adults invest in the lives of kids and their families, in some of the most beautiful settings in North America. A safe place to explore, make friends and ask important questions while enjoying the environment and moments of quietness, camp also provides high adventure like ropes courses, water sports, horseback riding and other activities that help build self-esteem and confidence.

$125 sends a kid to camp. Donations of all sizes encouraged here.
