Just Listening LLC: Strengthening Communities Through the Art of Listening

Contact: Glynnis Woolridge, Salt & Light Enterprises, 877-837-8909, saltandlightpr@gmail.com

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J., May 1, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- A new organization, Just Listening, LLC, was launched today with a mission of building stronger communities through teaching people how to better listen to themselves and each other.

Driven by biblical principles, the organization offers workshops, presentations, theatrical productions, special events and materials to help foster personal reflection. Just Listening's programs are designed to generate conversation, encourage engagement and to inspire people to develop a genuine concern for what goes on beyond their own backyards.

"The relational fiber of our community is growing weaker and weaker, like bones that were once strong but have grown brittle," explains Dr. Bernadette Glover, the architect of Just Listening's programs and services. "When bones are brittle, a fall can be devastating. Just Listening was established to combat and reverse this trend by capturing what it means to be 'in community.'"

Just Listening works with businesses, community organizations and churches to develop unique "listening experiences" -- customized programs that open channels of communication, identify and address challenges, and lay the foundation for a more efficient and effective environment while strengthening the culture of community.

Benefit Concert
Just Listening will host its first listening experience event on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at St. John's Baptist Church in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. The music concert -- "It's A Wonder" -- will benefit the Scholarship Ministry at St. John's and will present original songs by Dr. Glover. St. John's, where the Rev. Dr. Kelmo C. Porter, Jr., is senior pastor, is located at 2387 Morse Ave. in Scotch Plains.

"In 1977, I was a recipient of a St. John's scholarship. Now, 35 years later, we're gathering at my home church to praise God through the music He gave me. My desire is that all who attend the concert are inspired by the wonder of God to pursue their purpose," explained Dr. Glover.

The selections heard during the It's A Wonder Benefit Concert will be presented by the Grateful Praise Ensemble and the St. John's Mass Choir. The event will also feature the St. John's Dance Ministry. The It's A Wonder Benefit Concert is open to the public; a free will offering will be collected with all donations going to the St. John's Scholarship Ministry. More information on the It's A Wonder Benefit Concert can be found at www.justlisteningllc.com.
