COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., June 19, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Transformational Giving Fundraising Institute, established by Colorado nonprofit ministry Doers of the Word (DOTW), is introducing a certification program to address the needs of Christian fundraisers. According to CEO and Transformational Giving pioneer the Rev. Eric Foley, "Christians who raise funds for Christian nonprofit organizations often feel ill equipped to do so, and especially to do so in a way that's deeply rooted in biblical values and practices."

The program is the only comprehensive certification-level program in Transformational Giving studies. It is a twelve-month long program purposed to equip students to redesign their development program so that they graduate with a biblically based fundraising strategy.

"As we've trained cohorts of Christian leaders nationally in Transformational Giving over the last ten years, we have seen not only a new excitement about fundraising, but also impressive gains in money raised and other key growth indicators," says Suzanne Dubois, DOTW's Director of Giving and Training.

Dubois says the program incorporates workshops, learning labs, one-on-one consultations, and homework arising from and immediately applicable to each student's fundraising job. It is a cohort-bases model where students learn how Christian fundraising -- what DOTW calls "Transformational Giving" -- is rooted in comprehensive Christian discipleship practices.

What inspired DOTW to offer this program was seeing firsthand, through decades of work with ministries across the U.S. and around the world, the profound need and hunger of Christian leaders to move away from secular, business-like models for running Christian organizations while still being able to achieve fundraising success. Rev. Foley explains, "This program builds on years of experience of training and consulting and tracking the results of successful implementation of Transformational Giving fundraising methods in diverse ministry settings around the world."

DOTW's TG Fundraising Institute is currently accepting applications for admission to their July 2013 Colorado-based cohort. The first cohort workshop, on developing an annual fundraising plan, is being offered for free to enable all interested Christian nonprofit leaders to learn more about Transformational Giving and the certification program. The Colorado Springs workshop will be held on Tuesday July 23 from 10AM-2PM, and the Denver workshop will be held the following Tuesday July 30 from 10AM-2PM.
