FRANKLIN, Tenn., Nov. 6, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Jesus' original plan to change the world involved investing in the lives of a handful of followers, not building a mega-church, launching countless programs, developing a culture of religion, or a hit list of political foes. Those disciples turned around and invested in the lives of others, who then made disciples, and so on and so on.

In his new book The Jesus Blueprint -- Rediscovering His Original Plan for Changing the World (www.thejesusblueprint.com), David Buehring, founder and team leader of Lionshare, challenges Christians and churches to reconsider whether Jesus' last command, to go and make disciples, has become their least concern (Matthew 28:19-20). The book, published by HigherLife Publishing (www.ahigherlife.com), releases November 5 in both print and eBook editions.

Buehring writes of the early church, "Their primary focus was not winning converts, planting churches or impacting society. Rather, they cultivated disciple-making communities wherever they went, in obedience to Jesus, and the by-product was people won to Jesus, churches planted and a changed society."

Buehring challenges Christians and churches to reexamine their priorities in light of this discipleship mandate. Pastors and spiritual leaders -- do you currently have a plan in place in your church to obey the command of Jesus to make disciples? Jesus followers -- are you currently obeying Jesus by making disciples in your sphere of relationships and in your vocation? What are you really reproducing?

In The Jesus Blueprint, Buehring recounts life-changing words he heard from YWAM founder Loren Cunningham. "You know, Dave, it really isn't important how big the organizations are that you will lead, or the size of the groups that you will teach. The way that God will measure the fruitfulness of your life is how you invested to the third and fourth generations."

In addition to The Jesus Blueprint, Dave Buehring is the author of Welcome to the Kingdom -- A Discipleship Journey, which is a comprehensive disciple-making resource available in workbook, DVD and mobile app formats. After working for nearly three decades as a missions leader and pastor, Dave launched and leads Lionshare (www.lionshare.org), which aims to help Christians become disciple-makers. Dave is a gifted speaker and communicator and hosts Jesus Blueprint workshops around the country. He serves on the leadership team of Messenger Fellowship and on the pastoral team at Grace Chapel in Leipers Fork, Tenn. He and his wife, Cheryl, live in Franklin, Tenn.
