NASHVILLE, May 03, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- California-based non-profit Wildlife & Environmental Conservation Inc. (WEC) celebrates its fourth year of operation this month. The organization continues its commitment to the preservation and conservation of protected as well as endangered wildlife species and their habitats.

Established in April 2007, WEC was founded by Patty Perry, who serves as director of the organization. Perry started the non-profit after volunteering for a wildlife rehabilitation and education facility in her area, spending nearly a decade working with thousands of animals that were sick, injured or orphaned. WEC utilizes the best of her skills and passion for treating and rehabilitating animals.

Perry comments, "I had no plans to be doing what I am doing today! I do know, however, that we are given gifts that allow us to perform the jobs we are led to do in life. I take no credit. God made me do it!"

WEC animals, many of which have sustained permanent injuries as a result of various environmental challenges, are sheltered and maintained by the facility in Southern California. Each animal is cared for, handled, and trained on an individual basis that is tailored to their specific needs.

"Our number one concern at WEC is that every animal receives the best quality of life possible," says Perry. "We have created healthy diets, exercise and enrichment techniques along with continual socialization and interaction with all the animals. Our habitat structures provide the optimum living space and comfort for each species."

In addition to caring for the animals, WEC is dedicated to bringing awareness to pertinent environmental issues affecting them, including habitat loss, pollution, global warming, insecticides, rodenticides, lead poisoning, electrocutions, disease, and human intervention casualties. The organization teaches and encourages prevention and public participation via programs to schools, churches, community outreach, and corporations. They also conduct select private "on site" programs that include their large mammals.

WEC is supported by private donations exclusively, using the funds to support their programs, facilities, and the animals that they care for. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.helpwildlife.org.
