LOS ANGELES, April 13, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Motive Entertainment announces the launch of Singles Movie Nite, a nationwide event to celebrate the much-anticipated film called There Be Dragons, directed by Roland Joffe (The Mission), based on the life of Saint Josemaria Escriva.

Presented by CatholicMatch.com, Singles Movie Nite will take place in major markets nationwide on Friday, May 6th, where singles can attend a premiere showing of There Be Dragons at a local theater followed by an after-party nearby.

"We're very excited to kick off Singles Movie Nite across the country starting with the epic movie, There Be Dragons," states Brian Bacaro, co-founder of CatholicMatch.com. "It's the kind of inspiring movie members of CatholicMatch.com will really enjoy."

Singles Movie Nite offers singles an entertaining evening to meet and hang out with like-minded people who share the same faith and interests.

"One of the many things that differentiates us from other relationship-websites is that we have a very large community that is active both on and offline. Supporting Singles Movie Nite is just one more way we can encourage our members to get out from behind the computer screen and actually meet each other in person," said Bacaro.

"The fact that CatholicMatch.com agreed to be our presenting sponsor shows the high demand for faith-friendly films like There Be Dragons," said Paul Lauer, president of Motive Entertainment. "We hope that seeing a movie like this can be a great way for people to explore universal themes of love, betrayal, forgiveness and redemption."

The film also received praise from Cardinal Sean O'Malley, Archdiocese of Boston. "An excellent film that can bring the viewer closer to Christ through the story of St. Josemaria Escriva," he said.

Anyone is welcome to attend and can RSVP to the premiere in their city by going to www.SinglesMovieNite.com. Questions about the premieres & after-parties in each city can be directed to events@singlesmovienite.com.

About the movie:
From Academy Award nominated director, Roland Joffe (The Mission and The Killing Fields), There Be Dragons is a powerful story of war, tragedy, love and redemption. Set during the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War (early 1900s), Dragons tells the story of two childhood friend who find themselves on opposite sides as war erupts. One chooses the path of peace and becomes a priest while the other chooses the life of a soldier driven by jealousy and revenge. Each will struggle to find the power of forgiveness over the forces that tore their lives and friendship apart.

Wes Bentley (American Beauty) leads a terrific ensemble that includes Charlie Cox (Stardust), Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), Emmy Award-winning Derek Jacobi (The King's Speech), Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible II) and Rodrigo Santoro (300).

The release of the film will be accompanied by a major grassroots campaign conducted by Motive Entertainment, the company that championed films like Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ and Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia. Motive Entertainment is releasing a variety of free teaching and preaching materials for Dragons and it is staging special vocation celebration premieres for churches and organizations during opening weekend in theaters nationwide.
