Contact: Tina Givens, NRB Network, 615-338-5091

MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Friday, Nov. 5, NRB Network will air special programming to kick off Orphan Weekend. The two-hour presentation begins at 8 pm ET and features well-known personalities including Francis Chan, Steven Curtis Chapman, Mark Schultz and others. The second hour of programming will be broadcast live from Colorado Springs, CO.

Originated in Zambia, annual World Orphan events began in the U.S. in 2003 as a coordinated effort among local churches and Christian organizations to raise awareness and support for orphans at home and abroad. Activities around the globe range from sermons and Sunday school lessons to fundraisers and concerts. Spearheaded by the Christian Alliance for Orphans -- a coalition of more than 75 respected ministries -- events begin on Friday, Nov. 5 and culminate on Orphan Sunday, Nov. 7.

The first hour of the broadcast called Answer the Cry is hosted by best-selling author Francis Chan and emphasizes the importance of adoption and foster care as ways to "make the Gospel visible". Popular Christian artists Steven Curtis Chapman, Mark Schultz and others will perform new songs. Answer the Cry airs at 8 pm ET.

The second hour, which begins at 9 pm ET, is a national concert broadcast live from Colorado Springs, Co. A student-focused event, the concert will feature music from The Desperation Band along with inspiring stories of how high school and college students are demonstrating God's love in service to orphans.

"NRB Network is proud to make this special programming available to our viewing audience. We pray thousands of hearts will be moved to act by the scriptural call to care for orphaned children," said Troy Miller, President and COO of NRB Network.
