PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 20, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- National Bible Day 2012 in Southern California was an exceptionally well executed event this year, chaired by the Rev. Phil Corr where he pastors at the First Congregational Church in Escondido. It was not known until the last minute if television evangelist Verna Linzey was going to be on the platform. She did arrive with her entourage, and read Joshua 1:6-9. There was power in her voice and an anointing felt throughout the 700 seat sanctuary. Rev. Linzey graced the event last year as well at Westminster Seminary California where she received the National Bible Teacher of the Year Award 2011, presented by Captain Ollis Mozon, CHC, USN, who was the Senior Chaplain of United States Marine Corp Camp Pendleton.

Also participating were representatives of the Salvation Army Major Diane Ebel, a local Spanish minister Rev. Juan Arjona, retired Army Chaplain Jim Linzey (son of Dr. Verna Linzey), Rev. Phil Corr, Elder Brad Baker of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, and others. Outstanding classical music was provided by Cynthia Poole on the pipe organ.

Dr. Linzey's reading served as a reminder to America that God's work in America is not over and that Americans must be courageous and spiritually vigilant so America may triumph over evil as a lighted city upon a hill, disseminating the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The key verses read by Dr. Linzey were six and eight:

"Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them....This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" (KJV).

May America attend to the reading and doing of the Word!
