Kyria Urges Women to Act in Response to Pain and Injustice

CAROL STREAM, Ill., Jan. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- As the world responds to the devastation and suffering in Haiti, Kyria is urging women to step out and take action against injustice in their neighborhoods and the world in the February issue of the digizine available today.

Editor Ginger Kolbaba says, "God doesn't call his followers to be ignorant of what's going on in the world. Instead, he calls us to go out of our comfort zones and move into the world with eyes wide open. In this issue of the Kyria digizine we start by trying to help women sort through the tough questions and then provide some first steps toward living out what it means to act justly."

Featured is an interview with Kara Powell, Executive Director of the Fuller Youth Institute and the author of several books on justice. Many Christians ignore God's love for justice and his actions on behalf of the mistreated in the Bible. Powell, however, says that being a person of justice means facing the hard questions of how we live and focusing on what we can do instead of being overwhelmed by what we cannot. Her interview describes her own efforts to understand what justice means as an average, suburban mom.

The February issue of the Kyria digizine is available to members and features the following pieces:

Justice in the Suburbs
Author and theologian Kara Powell shows us that it is possible to make a resounding difference in the world -- no matter where you live.
