HOUSTON, Texas, Sept. 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- Luis Palau Festivals, the free, family-friendly celebrations which have drawn close to 5.5 million people since 1999 from south Florida to South America, are bringing CityFest Houston with Luis Palau to Eleanor Tinsley Park on Saturday and Sunday, October 7 & 8. Activities are scheduled each day from noon to 10:00 PM, and admission is free.

Luis Palau festival events have changed the face of contemporary faith celebrations with a format of “great music and Good News” (www.palau.org). Highlights include major gospel and mainstream recording artists, action sports, family play areas, and food courts. Recent festivals have attracted tens of thousands, including 400,000 in Costa Rica; 200,000 in Minneapolis; 850,000 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and 300,000 in Fort Lauderdale.

Produced in partnership with close to 600 area churches, businesses and organizations, CityFest will showcase some of the top artists in pop, country and gospel music, including Wynonna Judd, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, Kirk Franklin, Chris Tomlin, Hawk Nelson, BarlowGirl and Matt Maher. For the first time, the festival format will offer a major Hispanic component headlined by Latin superstar Luis “El Puma” Rodriguez and Houston’s own Marcos Witt.

The Livin It Action Sports tour featuring pro athletes from the “extreme” sports of skateboarding, BMX biking and freestyle motocross will perform twice each day. A “Kid’s Block Party” will offer games, inflatables, and entertainment: the “Sport’s Zone” will have sports challenges along with appearance by some of Houston’s top pro athletes. A Community Care Area will provide free health and family services.

The Oregon-based Luis Palau Association has brought a biblical message of hope to over 21 million people face-to-face in 70 countries.
